Recreational Adventures Company (RAC) is proud to announce the completion of a new Registration and General Store facility at Rapid City / Black Hills KOA, marking a significant milestone in the campground’s growth. The new facility is now open and fully operational, welcoming guests for the 2026 season and beyond.
The new, state-of-the-art building enhances the guest experience with a fully stocked general store and gift shop offering groceries, camping supplies, apparel and pool essentials, with everything guests need – from last-minute essentials to curated gifts and gear. Designed for year-round operation, the facility significantly expands the campground’s ability to better serve guests beyond the traditional camping season.
In addition to retail offerings, the building features expanded, modern restroom and shower facilities for guest comfort, a new laundry area, a group meeting space and a commercial kitchen that supplies daily pancake breakfasts. Guests can also enjoy outdoor seating areas complete with decks and fireplaces, creating a welcoming space to relax and gather.
“This new facility is a game-changer for our campground,” said Carla Jacobsen, General Manager of Rapid City / Black Hills KOA. “It allows us to better serve our guests with modern amenities, extend our season and create more opportunities for connection over breakfast, around the fire, or during group gatherings. We’re excited to welcome both new and returning guests to experience it.”
To celebrate the completion, Rapid City / Black Hills KOA will host a Grand Opening Celebration and ribbon cutting on Thursday, May 28 from 5 to 7 p.m., with the ribbon cutting scheduled for 5 p.m. Community members are invited to attend the event, which will take place at the new facility and will include an opportunity to see the new space, enjoy refreshments and celebrate this exciting milestone..
