Construction is moving forward on a major enhancement at the Rapid City/Black Hills KOA: a brand-new Registration and General Store facility designed to elevate the guest experience and support the campground’s continued growth.
The new building will house the registration desk, a significantly expanded general store, guest restrooms and showers, a laundry room, a full kitchen, and flexible meeting space. These upgrades will better serve guests and open up possibilities for group events, off-season stays, and more convenient on-site amenities.
Currently, interior sheetrock is being installed, with tile work scheduled to begin in July. The KOA team anticipates moving into the new building in early to mid-September. After the transition, construction crews will begin work to remove the original A-frame structure and complete the parking and staging lanes. The full project is expected to be complete by November 2025.
“This building will be more than just a check-in area,” said Chris Cutler, Vice President of Recreational Adventures Co. (RAC). “It’s designed to be a true welcome center — a place that sets the tone for the entire stay. We’re proud to invest in this experience for our guests and look forward to opening the doors soon.”
